  The children have created a collaborative floral tribute as a way of saying thank you to the Queen for all her hard work and devotion to the country.

  Following the extremely sad news of the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II yesterday, the school will be following the national period of mourning, which begins today and ends on the day of the funeral.

   

  We held a special assembly for the children this morning, to commemorate the life and service of our longest reigning monarch and to explain the period of mourning and what may be involved.

   

  We are yet to receive official guidance regarding the closure of schools at any point but expect that more information will be made available once the details of the funeral have been announced. 

   

  Throughout the period of mourning we will be arranging tributes and activities in school, including specially tailored lessons and a piece of whole school commemorative artwork. We have also opened up a book of tributes which is open to staff and children, in the first instance.

   

  We're sure that the whole school community will join together to honour and remember the life and reign of HRH Queen Elizabeth II, our extraordinarily dedicated, devoted and selfless monarch for the last 70 years.
