• New Facilities

  The school has undergone a series of improvement works over the last few months.  A new year 6 classroom and group area has been constructed.

  A demountable classroom has been relocated on the school site, to make way for the new permanent classroom, and will act as a practical area for subjects such as food technology and science, as well as a centre for our increasing range of learning outside the classroom activities.       

     

  The soil removed as part of this construction work has been re-shaped into a grass amphitheatre on the school field.  When this area has fully grassed over the children will be able to use this for open air                       performances of dance and drama and as an outdoor classroom, during the spring and summer months.

  The school’s pond area has also been improved; a larger pond, now bordered by a decking area will make Forest Schools and science activities, such as pond dipping, more rewarding.

   

  The playground has recently been enhanced with a range of games, activities and outdoor musical instruments, for children to make the most of during their playtimes and lunchtime breaks.

  

• MacMillian Coffee Morning

  Thank you very much to the parents and children who supported our MacMillian Coffee Morning once again this year. We are pleased to announce that you managed to raise £207.28 for the charity which will go to help people living with cancer.

   

  In addition, the school would like to thank Mrs Green, Mrs Saunders and the School Council for organising the event. As well as Mrs Swire, Mrs Bradbury, Mrs Bentley, Miss Swire and Mrs Wood for hosting the morning. 

• Year 3 Parent Lunch

  Thank you very much to the 91 parents who joined their children for lunch on Thursday 25^th September 2014. The children and staff in year 3 were really pleased that so many parents decided to join them.

   

  Thank you very much to the kitchen staff for preparing such a lovely meal for our visitors and lunch time supervisors for looking after everyone. The school would also like to thank Miss Woods for organising the occasion.

• Best School Garden - Market Drayton in Bloom

  We are delighted to have been awarded first prize in the Best School Garden category of the Market Drayton In Bloom competition, for the fifth year running.

   

  Back in July judges from the Market Drayton In Bloom committee came to inspect our school garden and find out all about the work that goes on to develop and maintain it throughout the year.

  Mr Boughey and Mrs Hunt, two of the school’s Teaching Assistants, along with Miss Whitehouse (a parent helper) run an after-school gardening club on Wednesday afternoons throughout the Autumn, Spring and Summer.  As part of this club, the children are taught how to plant and maintain different types of crops and flowers, as well being involved with the growing and harvesting of crops of fruits, vegetables and herbs, some of which have been used to stock our break-time tuck shop trolley.

   

  In addition, the gardening club helps to look after the school’s garden areas and planters.

   

  A huge congratulations and ‘thank you’ to Mr Boughey, Mrs Hunt, Miss Whitehouse and their gardening club members for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. They are proof that you really do reap what you sow!

  

• New intake

  A very warm welcome to all of our new children and their families and welcome back to our existing students and families.

   

  Welcome to our new members of staff too, Mrs Emmas in Year 4, Miss Dowling in Year 5 and Miss Davies in Year 6. In addition, Mrs Wright has joined our office team on Thursdays and Fridays. We hope they all enjoy their time with us.
