  • Multi-Sports morning

    On Friday 26th June years 3 and 4 took part in a multi-sports morning as part of National School Sports Week. Competing in teams they worked cooperatively to score points for their house.

     

    The children worked their way around the field and yard completing the following activities: bean bag target throw; big ball push; football target; hockey target; netball shoot; speed bounce; shuttle runs; standing long jump; tennis ball target throw; boccia; Tri-golf; soft arrows archery.

     

    At the end of all the activities the results of the competition were:

    Congratulations to all the children who took part with great enthusiasm and team spirit.

     

    Thank you very much to Sportsjam for helping to organise the event and leading many of the activities. In addition, thank you to Mrs Taylor for organising the morning and calculating the results. 

  • Robert Spiers Football Tournament

    This year’s annual Robert Spiers Football Tournament took place on the morning of Friday 19th June.

     

    The children worked in house teams to compete for the privilege of winning the Robert Spiers trophy. Four girls teams and eight boys teams participated in the event.

     

    In the girl’s competition Kites won two of their three matches to win the title.

     

    In the boy’s competition Kites 1 won all three of their games in the league stage and Eagles 2 won 2 games and drew 1 to go through to the final match.

     

    Kites closely won the tournament with a 1-0 win over Eagles.

     

    Congratulations to all the children who participated during the event; the rest of the school for cheering the teams on. In addition, many thanks to Mr Richards for organising the fixtures and for referring along with Mr Eardley.  

  • Year 6 Stalls

    Well done to all the year 6 children and their teachers for organising this year’s fundraising stalls. The children raised nearly £1000 during the three days of fundraising, which will go towards funding the cost of their end of year 6 trip.

     

    The school would like to say thank you very much to the children’s families for supporting their endeavours and providing them with the prizes for their activities.

     

    Thank you to the children and parents from the other year groups too for supporting the stalls. We hope year 6 enjoy their special leaving trip.

  • Children’s University Graduation

    On Wednesday 11th June we held a graduation ceremony for over 30 children who had collected stamps in their Learning Passports.

     

    During this special assembly, organised and led by Mr Hayward, each child was introduced to the audience and presented with their special Children’s University certificate. Watched by the whole school and invited parents the children, wearing their mortar boards and gowns, proudly received the applause from the audience.

     

    The following awards were presented during the ceremony: Bronze = 30 hours; Silver = 65 hours and Gold = 100 hours. In addition, several children received awards for the next stage ‘Certificates’: Bronze = 130 hours; Silver = 165 hours and Gold = 200 hours.

     

    Congratulations to all the children who received certificates for all their hard work gaining their awards. The school would also like to thank their parents for supporting our award ceremony.

  • Centenary Photograph

    On Wednesday 3rd June the RAF flew in to take an aerial photograph of children and staff making the number 100 on the school field as part of our centenary celebrations. Mr Hayward marked out the shape and children and staff had great fun forming the number and welcoming the helicopter.

     

    The school would like to say thank you very much to the RAF for taking the time to take such a marvellous photograph of this special event for us.
