Spring Term

Clubs Spring Term 2024

At Market Drayton Junior School we try to offer a variety of extra-curricular clubs. They offer the chance to participate in fun, energetic and creative activities.

During the 2024 Spring Term the following clubs are on offer:

ActivSports Football Club

Year 3 & 4 Mondays, 15:15 - 16:30

Year 5 & 6 Wednesdays, 15:15 - 16:30

This club will cover all basic and more advanced techniques, including; passing, dribbling, control, technique, skills and shooting, with advanced practices. Sessions are slightly more detailed than football in PE lessons and will also include match related drills to improve the players understanding of formations, movement and communication. These drills are then progressed into small-sided games, allowing the children to put into practice what they have learnt.

Streetdance & Musical Theatre

Mondays, 15:15 - 16:10

This club was introduced in 2022-23 and has proven popular with our budding performers!  Run by Julia Holding, a local dance teacher, the club provides children with a fun and energetic alternative to some of the more traditional sports clubs.  The club is open to all year groups in the Spring Term.

Meets once a week during a lunchtime.  The club currently consists of a nominated representative from each class and is run by Miss Weston.

Tuesdays, 15:15 - 16:30

The gymnastics club is designed to introduce children to the exciting world of gymnastics, promoting physical fitness, coordination, and teamwork. Activsports aim to introduce fundamental gymnastics skills in a fun and supportive environment for key steps level 2 and 3 in Gymnastics. All levels of gymnasts are welcome to join but the skills taught will be at a beginner - intermediate level.

Ju Jitsu

Wednesdays, 15:30 - 16:30

Valor Ju Jitsu is currently run by Mr Phillips on a Wednesday in the school hall. Learn to: strengthen confidence; develop respect for others; boost awareness; build fitness; enhance co-ordination and develop self-defence. Please visit the following website for more details:

Dodgeball Club (FULL)

Thursdays, 15:15 - 16:10

(Year 3 & 4 first half term, Year 5 & 6 half term)

Dodgeball Club is run by Alex Mullins, who provides the badminton club in the Autumn Term and tennis coaching during the Summer Term.  Dodgeball is always very popular with the children!

ActivSports Multi-sports

Fridays, 14:35 - 16:15

Activsports run multi-sports after school clubs on Fridays for all year groups. The aim of the club is to introduce new sports to children that may or may not have played before. Each session addresses many of the sports fundamentals that we would like to see children develop more than being placed into single sported environments at such young and influential ages.

Activsports cover many sports such as football, rugby, basketball, hockey, tennis, dodgeball etc. playing a different sport each week.

All sessions are run by fully qualified sports coaches who have worked in various sporting fields and gained a wide range of qualifications. Each coach has an enhanced DBS check along with a recognised Child Protection Training and First Aid qualifications.
