  • Archery Competition

    Fri 07 Jul 2017

Our archery team won both of their events and achieved the highest score overall, at the recent first round competition at Lakelands Academy in Ellesmere. The success took them through to the next round (Summer School Games) held at the Shrewsbury Sports Village this week, on Tuesday 4th July, where the team did superbly well and were the eventual overall winners.

With an average of 58 points scored per 9 arrows they finished 16 points clear of the second place team and one budding Year 5 archer even scored a whopping 6 bullseyes! Well done and a huge congratulations to our winners! They were awarded their medals and trophy by an archery Paralympian who also gave the children an inspirational talk.

  • Year 6 Police Cadets

    Fri 07 Jul 2017

Over the last six weeks, twelve of our Year children have been taking part in the Junior Police Cadet Programme. The course was run by West Mercia Police and gave the children the opportunity to work with local Police Officers on a range of activities.

The programme was designed to develop children’s’ leadership skills, promote citizenship, community awareness and an understanding of the diverse work of Police, through a range of fun and activities. The children enjoyed taking part in the activities, which included using walkie-talkies and the phonetic alphabet; looking at the use of alarms and security systems around school; learning about road traffic incidents, and finding out about stranger danger.

The children were presented with their own uniforms at the start of the course, which they wore throughout.

They had their ‘passing out parade’ this week to celebrate the hard work they had put into participating and we welcomed some special visitors from West Mercia Police, including a police dog. Congratulations to the children who participated for their enthusiasm and for their hard work during the programme.
