Thanks to Mrs Green for organising our Fingerspellathon. Congratulations to all the children for taking part so enthusiastically and many thanks to all the families and friends who have supported the children in their endeavours.

  • Walk To School Day

    Fri 18 Oct 2013
Congratulations to all the children and staff who dressed brightly to celebrate 'Walk to School Day'. The children really took on board the theme 'Be Bright, Be Seen' and were a sight to behold. More importantly more children than ever walked to school which was fantastic. Thank you for supporting the campaign and we are looking forward to receiving all your photographs.
  • SUMO morning

    Thu 17 Oct 2013
On Thursday 17th October the whole school took part in a PSHE activity, learning about positive attitudes and behaviours which helped them to recognise how these can be utilised to their advantage.  This project is called SUMO, which stands for ‘Stop Understand, Move On’. As part of this the children spent the morning in mixed classes with children from other years and registration groups, that they may not normally have the opportunity to mix with.

They took part in a number of activities designed to demonstrate to them that how they choose to approach life impacts upon how they experience it.  Children were asked to design their own positive message T-shirts.  Some fabulous designs and valuable messages such as “a smile is the trick”, “never give up” and “always believe in yourself” were created.

The children all thoroughly enjoyed the morning and even made some new friends!

  • Football News

    Wed 09 Oct 2013
Recently the Under 11 football team have taken part in the ESFA national tournament at the Shrewsbury Sports Village. On Wednesday 2nd October the team played three matches against: Oxon, which they drew 0-0; Longnor which they drew 1-1 and Crowmoor which they won 2-1. This meant they had enough points to go through to the semi-finals the next week.

On Wednesday 9th October the team were once again back at the Sports Village. Firstly, they played Baschurch and drew 0-0; secondly, they played Belvidere and drew 1-1. Finally, they played Mereside and lost 1-0, which meant they did not have enough points to go through to the next stage of the competition.

The team played really well on both occasions and were unlucky not to proceed any further. A big thank you to all the parents who supported the children on both evenings.
  • Art Exhibition at the Festival Drayton Centre

    Mon 07 Oct 2013
Congratulations to all the children from Market Drayton Infant and Junior Schools for taking part in a collaborative art project about the Four Seasons. Children from the two schools created their art work using a variety of media. Their work has been on display at the Festival Drayton Centre and on Monday 7th October 2013 parents, relatives and children were invited to view their finished pieces. Many thanks to the Festival Drayton Centre for hosting the event. Thanks must also go to Mrs Hughes and Miss Spencer for working with the children and for organising the exhibition.
  • Harvest Assembly at the Methodist Church

    Mon 07 Oct 2013
On Monday 7th October 2013 the children walked to the Methodist Church to participate in their Harvest Festival. The children had been practicing their singing for the event on Wednesday’s mornings and this was the opportunity for them to display their talents. The assembly, led by Miss Woods, focused on the importance of helping others as the children were informed that all the food collected by the church would be going towards the Market Drayton Food Bank. In addition, how the charity WaterAid is helping to provide clean running water for people living in Africa.

Reverend Baker cleverly demonstrated to the children how vegetables on display in the church had senses, for example, the eyes on a potato; the ears on wheat. Relating this to how children can use their senses to appreciate the natural world and help each other.

Thank you very much to the Reverend Baker for allowing the school to hold their assembly in such a lovely location. Many thanks to all the parents who helped walk the children to the church – we really appreciate all the support. Finally, thanks to Miss Woods for organising such a lovely assembly and for reminding us why we need to help others.
  • Year 5 Dewa Trip

    Fri 04 Oct 2013
On Friday 4th October Year 5 went to Chester to visit the Roman Experience Museum, as part of their Autumn term history topic.  Whilst there they spent an hour marching around the walls of Chester with a Roman soldier and learnt how to be a successful legionary.  This was followed by a guided tour of the museum, during which they learned how the Romans lived, what they ate, how they relaxed and found out all about their building methods.
