  • School calendar painting competition

    On Thursday 30th October two children from Market Drayton Junior School were invited to the Market Drayton Art Club’s School Calendar Awards Presentation at the Market Drayton Youth Club Centre. Thanks to all the children who entered the competition and congratulations to our two winners. Madison’s design was chosen to represent February and Layla created her painting while at Market Drayton Infants School.

     

    Copies of the published calendar are on sale and all profit goes to the schools. Thank you very much to Market Drayton Art Club for organising the competition and presentation.

  • Eco – Halloween Competition

    Congratulations to all the children who took part in the recent Halloween competition organised by the Eco-Warriors.

     

     On Friday 24th October the Eco-Warriors presented the winners with their prizes for designing the best eco Halloween models, posters and pumpkin designs. It was a difficult decision due to the high standard of this year’s entries. 

  • Cross Country Event

    On Tuesday 21st October Mrs Taylor took 25 children to take part in the Market Drayton Area School Sport Partnership Cross Country competition. Twelve schools took part and our children performed really well, particularly Hannah, who came first in the year 6 girls competition, Jamie, who came second in the year 6 boys section and Kayla, who came second in the year 4 girls group.

     

    The teams produced some excellent performances too with first place going to the year 4 girls, the year 5 boys, the year 6 girls and the year 6 boys. Congratulations to all the children involved who will be going on to the next phase of the competition.

     

    Thanks to Mrs Hunt, Mrs Taylor, Mrs Wood and Mr Hayward for transporting the children and Mrs Taylor for organising the children’s participation. We wish them well in the next round.

  • Under 11 Football Tournament

    On Wednesday 15th October 2014 the Under 11 football team took part in the ESFA Danone Nations Cup at the Sports Village in Shrewsbury. First, they played Oxon and won 2-0 with Jack scoring both the goals. Secondly, they played Redhill but lost 3-0.

     

    The team played really well and everyone tried very hard during their first game of the season. Many thanks to the families of the team who transported the children to the competition and for supporting them during the matches. Thanks to the players who took part too. 

  • Drayton Arts Festival

    In the summer term our pupils participated in a 2015 Calendar Painting Competition, as part of the 2014 Drayton Arts Festival.  Each local school was given a month to illustrate with a painting and the winning paintings have been collated into a 2015 town calendar.   Congratulations to Madison who provided our winning entry; her picture appears on the February page. 

  • Arthog Visit

    Congratulations to all the children and staff who recently returned from their residential visit to Arthog. The children had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of activities including: surfing, gorge walking, rock climbing, as well as experiencing environmental activities such as clearing the beach for part of their John Muir Award.

     

    Thank you very much to all the children who participated for their excellent behaviour and attitude during their week. The school would also like to say a big thank you to all the staff who looked after them during the visit and Mrs Hopley for organising the trip. 

  • Market Drayton Learning Partnership

    At a meeting of the school Governing Body on 18th September 2014 it was decided to:

     

    • change the school’s category from Community to Foundation;
    • adopt a charitable Trust called the Market Drayton Learning Partnership, which shall be a co-operative membership trust;
    • the change will take effect from December 1st 2014.
