At the beginning of June a large number of our Year 6 pupils participated in a Bikeability course. After all passing the level 1 course (on the playground) with flying colours, they moved onto the level 2 course, which saw them cycling off around Market Drayton, demonstrating their skills.
They had to show that they were able to ensure that their bicycles are road-worthy and that they could apply all the safety rules of the Highway Code. The children were an absolute credit to themselves and the school. The instructors were full of praise for the way that they focused and for their excellent manners throughout, so much so, that they arranged to return to school on 10 July to carry out an additional day’s workshop with the children, to help them plan a cycle route from their homes to the local secondary school, in preparation for September!
