Sporting Update Summer 2018

Archery

The level 2 competition took place after school on 24th April. Unfortunately, the team did not qualify for level 3 despite the results being very close.

Boccia

Three teams represented MDJS in the level 2 competition at Thomas Adams in Wem. The A team won the competition and went on to represent North Shropshire at the level 3 County games, finishing in 6th place.

Kwik Cricket

The level 2 competition took part here at MDJS in May. The children then went on to represent North Shropshire, finishing in 8th position at the County finals.

Orienteering

Two teams represented our school at the level 2 competition and the A team won which meant they progressed on to the level 3 County finals.

Rounders

The rounders competition took place over 3 nights here at MDJS. The team played brilliantly, however, did not make it through to the final.

Swimming Gala

On 19th June a mix of children from Years 3 - 6 took part in the Market Drayton Swimming Gala. We have an excellent standard of swimming at our school and two of the children have progressed on to the County finals, which will be held in Shrewsbury.

Tennis

A group of Year 3 & 4 children went to Market Drayton Tennis Club on 13th May to take part in the level 1 competition. Two teams took part, both playing brilliantly. Team A made it through to the final and they went on to play at Ellesmere College a few weeks later.

Tri-Golf

The Tri-Golf team represented our area at the level 2 competition at Ellesmere College on 8th June. They played some great golf and finished in 3rd position overall.

Key Stage 2 Cycling

The Key Stage 2 cycling competition took place at Shrewsbury Sports Village on 18th May. Our A team came second and progressed on to level 3. The B team finished in 5th place.

Shropshire School Games

We had our most successful year to date this year, taking the most children/teams in our history. We also took two successful acts from the ‘School Games has got Talent’ competition, held prior to the games, to perform in the opening and closing ceremonies. North Shropshire finished 3rd overall.
