As part of our Roaming Romans theme, we were delighted to welcome ‘Portals to the Past’ to our school. Our day started with a welcome from a Roman soldier finding out about the spread of the Roman Empire, especially its influence on ‘Britannia’. Then we played a strategic game called Petteia, took part in a quiz and handled Roman artefacts.

 

During the afternoon, we found out more about Roman legionaries and auxiliaries including their weapons and fighting tactics. Our day finished with ‘chariot racing’! It was an enjoyable and informative day.
