Olympic Sports Day 2016

In the weeks before the Sports Day Mrs Savill organised our mixed PSHE classes into countries to participate in the Sports Day. First, the children learnt more about Brazil and focused on Rio, before looking in more depth at how the Olympics would change Rio. Next, the children learnt about the countries they would be representing: South Africa, Canada, Chile, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Sweden, Netherlands, Fiji, Austria, Barbados and Malta.

On the 22nd June we held our Olympic themed Sports Day event, which started with an Opening Ceremony where the children paraded in their countries in front of their parents and relatives. The lower school took part in their events in the morning and the upper school in the afternoon before everyone got back together to march round for the closing ceremony. Sweden won the lower school competition and the Ivory Coast the upper school; overall the country with the most points after all the events was Sweden. So well congratulations to Sweden for winning our Olympic Sports Day.

Thank you very much to all the children for performing so brilliantly during the day. Thanks to all the parents and relatives who came to cheer everyone on. Finally, a big thank you to Mrs Taylor for all her hard work organising the event.
