On Saturday 23rd January 16 year 4 and 5 boys took part in the Boys Dance project at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery called “The Collectors”.
During the last two months the boys have been busy working and rehearsing with professional dance artist, Dave McKenna, on their performance titled “The Humans”.
The audience were split into groups and guided by stewards to the four sections of the performance; giving them the opportunity to explore the Museum and its unique collections, whilst watching the boys from the eight participating schools.
All the performances were compelling, unique and a testament to the dedication of the children; the project staff and the school staff who supported them.
The school would like to say a huge thank you to the 16 boys who represented Market Drayton Junior School, as they were an amazing inspiration and incredibly professional – we are very proud of them all.
Thank you very much to Mrs Taylor for organising the opportunity for the children – it was an incredibly memorable event.
Thank you to Mrs Taylor, Mrs Willson, Mrs Hughes and Miss Kynaston for supervising the children during the rehearsals on Friday and Saturday – thank you for their huge commitment to the project.
Thanks to all the parents for supporting the boys during the evening – it was good to see so many of you there.
Finally, thank you very much to the Boy’s Dance project team and Shrewsbury’s Museum and Art Gallery for letting us experience this fabulous event.
