  • Sports Day

    Fri 30 Jun 2017

After originally being postponed due to poor weather our annual sports day was finally able to take place yesterday, in glorious sunshine. Our children took part enthusiastically in all of their events and took advantage of the ice-creams on sale, which helped keep them cool!

Sports day was a great success with children taking part in a range of field and track events to achieve individual awards as well as points for their house team.

Year 5 and 6 children competed in the morning with year 3 and 4 in the afternoon. The overall winning house team was Harriers with an overall score of 282 points, closely followed by Kites with 238 points then Eagles with 237.

  • Year 6 Bikeability

    Fri 30 Jun 2017

In June, a large number of our Year 6 participated in the Bikeability course. After passing the level 1 course (on the playground) with flying colours, they moved onto the level 2 course, which saw them cycling off around Market Drayton, demonstrating their skills.

They had to show that they were able to ensure that their bicycles road-worthy and that they could apply all the safety rules of the Highway Code.

The children were absolute credit to themselves and the school; the instructors were full of praise for the way that they focused and for their excellent throughout. Well done to all who took part; we are so proud of them.

  • Year 4 Liverpool Trip

    Sat 24 Jun 2017

On Friday 23rd June the Year 4 children embarked on a visit to the Liverpool World Museum. The main focus of the visit was to practically experience the year’s context of learning; the children explored Egyptian artefacts and mummified bodies, linked to their Tomb Raiders topic.

In addition, to link to their Charles Darwin theme of Daring Discoveries, the children were given the opportunity to examine fossils, specimens, bones and plants. The visit increased the children’s wonder and awe and deepened their understanding of the topics being studied in class.

The Year 4 team would like to say a big thank you to the parents who accompanied them on the visit; the children thoroughly enjoyed the day.

  • Kwik Cricket Competition

    Fri 23 Jun 2017

On 19th June, as part of a week-long celebration of inclusive learning, 11 of our pupils visited Severndale School, Shrewsbury for a game of Kwik Cricket - the teams were mixed between both schools, so that everyone was a winner! A wonderful afternoon was had by all.

  • Tennis Competition

    Fri 16 Jun 2017

The annual local schools tennis competition was held at Market Drayton Tennis Club on Wednesday 14th June. We took a team of 8 children to the competition; 4 boys and 4 girls.

They played very well and won some of their doubles matches. Unfortunately, none of the pairings made it through to the next round, but some great tennis was played and the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part.

  • Swimming Gala

    Thu 15 Jun 2017

On Tuesday 13th June we took 10 children to a local primary schools swimming gala at Market Drayton Swimming Centre. All competitors swam extremely well in their heats and most children made it through to the final. Three of the children are going forward to the next round, which will be a County-level gala. Well done to all of our super swimmers!
