  • Robert Spiers Football Tournament 2014

    Fri 23 May 2014
On Friday 23rd May 15 teams took part in the annual Robert Spiers Football Tournament. With three pitches fully occupied throughout the morning all the children taking part participated in a very sporting manner.

The girl’s section was closely won by Kites 1 with 12 points with Eagles 1 drawing a close second with 11 points. The boy’s section was eventually won by Falcons 1 when they beat Falcons 2 in the final. Both Falcons’ teams had led the group stages of their competition.

Well done to all the children involved and congratulations to the winning teams.
  • World Cup 2014

    Wed 21 May 2014

On Wednesday 21st May the Under 11 football team travelled to Shrewsbury to take part in the World Cup. Our school was representing Uruguay and we played three games, against Ghana (Greenfields), Japan (Prees) and Russia (Mereside). Drayton drew their matches 0-0 in three closely matched games. The boys played really well, even though they didn’t achieve enough points to go through to the later stages of the competition.

Many thanks to the boys for participating and their parents for transporting them to the tournament.

  • Amazing Anglesey Adventure

    Fri 16 May 2014
On May 14th 76 children and 10 adults loaded their luggage on to two coaches from Lakeside and set off on their Anglesey Adventure. During their visit the children worked collaboratively with an artist to create a sculpture (soon to be displayed at school). In addition, the children experienced the following outdoor activities: zipwiring; the challenge of team work to complete a low ropes course; bushcraft where they learnt how to build shelters and create a fire; pond dipping and beach combing; working together to complete the nightline; orienteering and canoeing on the Menai Straits.

All the children and the adults accompanying them had an amazing time, mainly thanks to the centres activity leaders. Well done to everyone who went on the trip and the school would like to say a big thank you to all the adults who went on the visit, particularly all the volunteers who were brilliant.
