  • Year 3 Fordhall Farm visits

    Thu 26 May 2016

Just before half term our three Year 3 classes visited Fordhall Farm, to learn about the history and the workings of the farm, in particular it’s organic principles.

The visit was designed to tie in with their topic for the term, “Le Crunch”, in which the children are planning and preparing their very own café.

As part of their visit they learned about how the animals on the farm are looked after, how their produce is utilised in the farm café and the various job roles in the farm shop and café.

The children had the opportunity to feed the pigs & chickens and collect eggs, which they then delivered to the café, to see how they are used.

They will hopefully be applying some of what they have learned to the planning of their own cafés!

Many thanks to their teachers for organising the trip and Fordhall Farm for welcoming the children.

    Thu 26 May 2016

On the 26th May the School Council hosted their fundraising disco. The aim of the disco was to raise money for a defibrillator for the school and local community.

Thank you very much to all the children for attending the event and for raising an amazing £721.27 to go towards the purchase.

Thank you very much to the PTA and school staff for supporting the disco too.

Thank you very much to Mr Richards for taking the children to the tournament.

  • School Games Day

    Fri 20 May 2016

We held our annual Inter-House School Games Day on Friday 20th May; Years 5 & 6 took part in the morning and Years 3 & 4 in the afternoon.

The children were split into houses and competed in 12 different events to earn points for their house.  The events included bean bag target throw, big ball push, football target, hockey target, netball shoot, speed bounce, shuttle run, standing long jump, tennis ball target throw, boccia, and tri-golf.

    The overall results were 4th place - Kites - 16, 211 points, 3rd place - Eagles - 16, 942 points, 2nd place - Harriers - 17, 061 points and 1st place went to Falcons - 17, 584 points.  Well done all!

Thank you very much to Mrs Taylor for organising the event.

  • Tennis Tournament

    Tue 17 May 2016

On Tuesday 17th May, Mrs Taylor took four children from Year 4 to represent the school in a schools’ tennis tournament at Market Drayton Tennis Club.

The children played some fabulous tennis and as a team they didn't lose any of their matches. The team came 3rd overall, which was based on the total number of points won throughout each of the matches.

Congratulations to the children for their fabulous effort and for Mrs Taylor for taking them to the tournament.

  • Year 4 Conway Centre trip

    Fri 13 May 2016

The Year 4 children recently enjoyed a residential trip to the Conway Centre on Anglesey.  Over the three days at the centre they took part in climbing, a low ropes and zipwire course, bushcraft (made fires, toasted marshmallows, made shelters, learned how to chop wood to make kindling and how to make a spark using flint and steel), pond dipping and a beach walk.

They also completed a set of superb art sculptures, linked to the upcoming Olympics and our school games initiative; these are now proudly on display in our reception area.

Everyone had a fabulous time, the weather was stunning and all of the children came away with fantastic memories and a new set of skills.

Thanks to the children for being such great ambassadors for our school and many thanks to all the school staff and volunteers who made the trip possible.

  • Living Eggs

    Fri 06 May 2016

As part of our science curriculum topic ‘Living Things and their Habitats’ we recently hosted four incubators of eggs in school, which hatched live in school over a period of 3 – 4 days.

Our fluffy little friends were a great success, with children, staff and parents visiting them each day of their week-long stay, to witness their progress.  The Year 4 children thoroughly enjoyed having them in their classes and they provided the focus for some fabulous cross-curricular work.

Many thanks to Mrs Valentine for organising this fabulous experience for the children.
